Immediate Funding Needs
-

$5,000
Purchases a new 42 kWh battery to increase the range of a Nissan LEAF from about 50 miles to 150 miles - making it a viable option for a low-income family.
-

$3,000
Purchases a high mileage, low-range EV that will be upgraded by our partner’s auto-trainees, many of whom are formerly incarcerated individuals.
-

$1,000
Guarantees a low-interest 12-month loan, so that savings from the EV will offsets monthly payments. Option to roll-over to another family once first loan is repaid.
We’re seeking partnerships and funding for these immediate needs and to launch our first pilot in the Washington-Baltimore region.
Donate your Nissan LEAF
If you are in the Baltimore, Maryland region and would like to donate a used Nissan Leaf (model year 2013 or newer), please complete the Vehicles for Change car donation form and make sure to specify that it is for the GoodWheels EV program.
If your Nissan LEAF is older than model year 2013, the battery design makes it difficult to upgrade. However, your donation can still benefit GoodWheels. Instead of upgrading the battery we can auction the vehicle and put the proceeds towards upgrading a newer model.
